BACKGROUND IN PHOTOGRAPHY:

(Formal education, workshops) Basic photography course from Bangladesh Photographic Institute in 1993. Composition on Photography workshop in 1994. Lighting workshop from Bangladesh Photographic Society in 1995. Workshop on Photo Marketing conducted by Stephen Mayes at Drik Picture Library in 1997. Completed Diploma in Photojournalism course from Pathshala- South Asian Institute of Photography in 1999.

PHOTOGRAPHIC EXPERIENCE:

Worked as freelance photographer from 1994 to 1995. Working as a staff photographer at Drik Picture Library from 1996 to date.
Experienced in portraits, corporate works, photojournalism and Documentary photography. Completed three years long seminar (Pleasure of Life) assigned and supported by World Press Photo Foundation- Netherlands.
Conducted photographic workshop in Sylhet Photographic Society, Sylhet. Worked as a photographer at Sorvis in Norway for three months.
Photography Trainer in the Pathshala-South Asian Institute of Photography.

Mother Jones International Fund for Documentary Photography Awards for ‘ Freedom Fighters: Veterans of the Bangladesh Liberation War of 1971’ works in 2001.
Nomination photo award from humanity photo award in China- 1999. Highly recommended photo award from Commonwealth photo contest in 1999 and 2000. Nominated for the Joop Swart Masterclass by World Press Photo Foundation in 2001. Overall winner Phaidon 55 Photography competition in 2001. Ist prize from WHO photo contest in Switzerland, 2002. Third place in the Gordon Parks photo contest in USA in 2002.

Group exhibition on Reflections: Water and Life in Bangladesh at The Association of Photographers Gallery in London, 1999. First solo exhibition on War veterans of Bangladesh at Bengal Gallery of Fine Arts at Dhaka in 2000. Group exhibition on Pleasure of Life at Oude Kerk in Amsterdam, 2001. An exhibition of Photographs by the 2001 Mother Jones award recipients in The Friends of Photography at the Ansel Adams Center in San Francisco, USA, 2001. Group exhibition in the 4a Bienal of Photojournalism at the "Centro de la Imagen" in Mexico City in 2001.
