* Assignments include parliamentary elections
in India and Sri Lanka, devastating floods
in northeastern India in which more than
1,000 people died, celebrations in Nepal
of the 50th anniversary of the ascent of
Mount Everest, Asia Cricket Cup 2004 in
Sri Lanka, militancy in the northern Indian
region of Kashmir, World Social Forum in
Bombay in January 2004.

photographers from all over India submitted
371 entries.
* Photograph was part of an exhibition in
Kuala Lumpur at the One Asia
Assembly, an interactive forum for the Press
Foundation of Asia.

* Awarded the foundation’s sole media
fellowship for photojournalists, for
2001-2002.
* Titled ‘Water of Life, and Death,’
project focuses on the metamorphoses of
the once-majestic Yamuna river into a foul,
disease-carrying sewer.
* Project highlights the fact that the water
cycle and the life cycle are one,
giving compelling reasons for why the river
must be saved.

* Titled ‘The Other Side of Darkness,’
