Born in Jerusalem, Israel in 1971. After earning a degree in
photography from Hadassah College in Jerusalem, Nir worked as a
fashion photographer in Tel Aviv, Israel. One year later, he began
working as a staff photographer for the Israeli photojournalism agency
Flash90 in Jerusalem. Nir joined the Reuters team in Israel in 2002
and covered the Israeli Palestinian conflict from the beginning of the
2nd Intifada until Gaza disengagement in August 2005. He has been
based in Shanghai since late 2005 and cover China and neighboring
countries for Reuters.
