Child Soldiers in the Democratic
Republic of the Congo
Recruiting childern under the age
of 15 as soldiers is a war crime under the United
Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. This
fact doesn't seem bother warmongers much. The Democratic
Republic of the Congo is one of the countries with
the highest numbers of underage soldiers in the world.
Militiamen force them to maraud and kill. If these
children fall into the hands of their opponents then
they suffer the same barbarities that they have caused
others to suffer.
The British reporter, Marcus Bleasdale,
has been following this crime upon child soldiers
for the last ten years and intends to continue doing
so.
