Somalia: Immer wieder Krieg, Hunger und Tod
Weite Teile des Landes sind nach wie vor in der Hand lokaler Clans, Kriegsherren, radikal-islamischer Gruppen oder Piraten.
Hossein Fatemi, ein Fotograf aus dem Iran, führt uns die Kriegsfolgen für Kinder in Somalia vor Augen. Er dokumentiert ihren Kampf ums Überleben, ihren harten Alltag inmitten von Schießereien und Hungersnot, ihr Ausharren in Flüchtlingslagern ohne wirkliche Zukunftsperspektive, auf die jedes Kind ein Recht hat.
Es ist eine gefahrvolle Hilfe, die trotz aller widrigen Umstände von Organisationen wie UNICEF und seinen Partnern vor Ort in Somalia geleistet wird. Unsicherheit und Gewalt erschweren die Versorgung der Bevölkerung mit Nahrungsmitteln, Wasser und medizinischer Hilfe.
Trotzdem wurden mit Hilfe von UNICEF Hunderttausende akut mangelernährte Mädchen und Jungen in Ernährungszentren in Somalia behandelt. Rund 1,7 Millionen Menschen haben Zugang zu sauberem Wasser erhalten.










Biografie: Hossein Fatemi

Hossein Fatemi, b.1980 in Iran, started his career as a photographer in 1997. He has worked in Lebanon, Pakistan, Turkey, Iran, Iraq, Georgia, Russia, India, Somalia, Kenya and Afghanistan. His work has been published in numerous national and international publications including The Times, Newsweek, Paris Match, The New York Times, The Guardian and The Washington Post.
Hossein Fatemi who is a member of Panos Pictures agency has won numerous awards during his career. He is currently based in Tehran, Iran.
